Hair Transplant Surgery

No treatment is more effective than your own natural hair, for men and women with hair loss. The transplanted hair grows at the same rate, is a permanent solution and will never need replacing like synthetic hair. See Before and After pictures of Dr. Arocha's effective and permanent hair loss solutions.

Medications

Rogaine®, an over-the-counter medication as well as Propecia®, a prescription medication are the two most effective medical treatments for hair loss outside of hair transplant surgery. The results of these two medications differ from person to person, but can be effective in maintaining hair or slowing hair loss. These medicines are more effective in preventing hair loss when used in conjunction with hair restoration surgery.

Hair Pieces and/or Toupees

Both synthetic and natural hair "pieces" have significant disadvantages to consider. These artificial solutions must be anchored to the scalp with snaps or glue and require constant maintenance. The scalp can become irritated from a lack of air circulation. These must also be shampooed and styled professionally to match the surrounding hair growth. On occasion, certain athletic or recreational activities must be avoided due to the limitations associated with an artificial hair solution.

Extensions

Hair extensions involve attaching human hair to strands of existing hair, providing the recipient has enough hair to facilitate the extension process. The result is temporary and requires repeated maintenance when the existing hair grows out. They also must be dyed to match the recipient's hair exactly to remain conspicuous. The tedious process of attaching hair extensions can last up to 10 hours.

Vitamins

While vitamins are effective in keeping scalp and surrounding skin healthy as well as increasing blood flow to hair follicles, there are no known vitamins proven for hair restoration.
